Sample coverage The framework used in the sample study of the research is the "National Address Database (UAVT)", which forms the basis of the "Address Based Population Registration System (ADNKS)" completed in 2007.
Geographical coverage: all settlements are located within the borders of the Republic of Türkiye.
Time coverage: Data are available for the years 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019 and 2022.
Households in all residental places inside borders of Republic of Türkiye were covered. Institutional population (soldiers, individuals living in dormitories, prisons, hospitals at the long-terms, homes for the elderly, etc.) are excluded. The survey is designed in order to produce estimators for only Türkiye. The stratified two-stage cluster sampling method was used as the sampling method. Rural-urban distinction has been used as an external stratification criterion. (Settlements with a population of 20 000 and less are considered as rural, and settlements with a population of 20 001 and above are considered as urban). The first stage sampling unit is randomly selected blocks by selection proportional to the size among clusters (blocks) containing an average of 100 household addresses; second stage of sampling unit is systematically selected at random from each cluster selected households total household address 11 170 from the selected block 1 117 is selected as a sample of Türkiye (10 households of each block).

Interview method Data are collected with face-to-face interview technique (Pen and Paper Interview-PAPI) with all individuals living in sample household addresses. For Turkey the first time in 2008 Health Survey conducted every two years until 2016, three years into a regular household as of 2019 is applied by face to face interviews.

Field survey time and duration The research was carried out with field studies in April 2008, one month in May-June period in 2010 and 2012, 3 months in August-October period in 2014 and 2016 and 3 months in September-December in 2019 and 2022.

Description of indicator Domestic alcohol supply per capita (aged 15 years and older) within a calendar year in litres of pure alcohol is obtained by dividing the total amount of alcohol supplied to the domestic market in a calendar year by the population aged 15 and over. The total amount of alcohol includes beer, fermented alcoholic beverages excluding beer (sparkling wine, wine, vermouth, etc.) and distilled spirits (cognac, brandy, whiskey, rum, juniper flavored drinks, vodka, liqueur, raki, etc.).
