Description of indicator This indicator refers to the proportion of high and medium-high-technology manufacturing industry value added in total value added of manufacturing. The high-tech classification of the manufacturing industry is based on Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community (NACE Rev.2).

High-technology manufacturing industries include manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, manufacture of air and spacecraft and related machinery. Medium-high-technology manufacturing industries include manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, manufacture of weapons and ammunition, manufacture of electrical equipment, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c, manufacture of motor vehicles and trailers, manufacture of other transport equipment (excluding building of ships and boats and excluding manufacture of air and spacecraft and related machinery), manufacture of medical and dental instruments and supplies.

Sample coverage The Annual Industry and Service Statistics survey is compiled by examining and analysing the administrative registers data of approximately 3 600 000 enterprises.

A number of questionnaires are applied to represent the sector from the enterprises operating in the sectors such as Foundation Universities, Vocational High Schools, Sports Clubs, Organized Industrial Zones, Metropolitan Municipalities, Water Administrations etc.
Sample size Approximately 185 enterprises are surveyed in a year
Interview method Annual Industrial and Service Statistics Investment Expenditures Survey field operation is done by web based electronic questionnaire. Social Security Institution’s Monthly Premium and Service Declaration and Turkish Revenue Administration’s Annual Declaration data are obtained by TurkStat from related administrative institutions.
Reference period for application of survey 01 January-31 December period of the related year
