| Description of indicator |
a) This indicator is the percentage of final consumption of energy in total energy consumption that is derived from renewable resources. Renewable energy consumption includes consumption of energy derived from; hydro, solid biofuels, wind, solar, liquid biofuels, biogas, geothermal, marine and waste. Net final energy consumption in the denominator is calculated from national balances and statistics as total final consumption minus non-energy use. b) This indicator is the ratio between the electricity produced from renewable energy sources and the gross national electricity production for a given calendar year. It measures the contribution of electricity produced from renewable energy sources to the national electricity production. Electricity produced from renewable energy sources comprises the electricity generation from hydro plants (excluding pumping), wind, solar, geothermal and electricity from biomass/wastes. |
