Description of indicator This indicator is the proportion of average time spent in household services for unpaid domestic work and care work by individuals in total. Domestic and care work includes food preparation, dishwashing, cleaning and upkeep of a dwelling, laundry, ironing, gardening, caring for pets, shopping, installation, servicing and repair of personal and household goods, childcare, and care of the sick, elderly or disabled household members.

Other information Data are compiled from households selected according to the determined sampling method. The household questionnaire is filled in by interviewing a household member aged 18 and over who can give information about the household. Individual questionnaire and daily data are compiled from individuals aged 10 and over in the household.

Sample coverage The address frame used in the sample study of the research is the updated ""National Address Database (UAVT)"" that forms the basis of the ""Address Based Population Registration System (ADNKS)"" completed in 2007.

Geographical coverage: coverage has been included in all settlements located within the borders of the Republic of Turkey.

In this study, the Republic of Turkey are included in the scope of all household members living in non-institutional population. Two-stage stratified cluster sampling method was used. In the first stage, the sampling unit is clusters of an average of 100 addresses. In the second stage, the sampling unit is the households residing at the addresses selected from the clusters in the sample. Although the total size Prediction Turkey, the design layer is taken into consideration as the rural-urban distinction. Accordingly, settlements with a population of 20 000 and less are considered as ""Rural"", and those with 20 001 and more as ""Urban"". Turkey made in the design to produce some estimates of the total, a total of 156 rural residential cluster in place, while residential areas of the city have been selected sample sets, including a total of 1 144 988 sets. A total of 11 440 households, of which 1 560 from rural settlements and 9 880 from urban settlements (10 from each cluster), were selected as the sample. Among the households included in the sample, 9 073 households were interviewed.
In 2006, the observation unit (individuals aged 15+) is different from the 2014-15 practice (individuals aged 10+).
Sample size It has been implemented in a total of 11 440 sample households in Turkey. Interviews were made with 9 073 households and 25 109 individuals.
Interview method In the field application of the Time Use Survey, two different methods were used together: The queries on both household and individual questionnaires were made by interviewing the household members face to face, and data entry was carried out using a tablet pc.
Household and individual questionnaires were conducted by face-to-face interviews with a laptop, and the diaries were made by filling out the paper diaries by the respondents themselves.
Reference period for application of survey TurkStat applied Time Use Survey, which is being implemented by countries with 5-10 year intervals, for the first time during the period 1 January to 31 December 2006 for 12 months. The second application was made between 1 August 2014 and 31 July 2015 for 13 months.
Field survey time and duration The field application of the second study, the first of which was carried out between January 1 and December 31, 2006, was carried out between August 1, 2014 - July 31, 2015. It was implemented in an average of 880 households during 13 working months, for four weeks per month.
