Description of indicator This indicator, obtained from the Adult Skills Survey conducted under the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) coordinated by the OECD, shows the status of individuals aged 16-65 within the scope of verbal and numerical skills. i) Verbal skills are defined as the ability to understand written texts and respond to these texts appropriately and ii) Numerical skills are defined as the ability to use numerical and mathematical concepts.

Calculation Proficiency is described on a scale of 500 points divided into levels. Each level summarises what a person with a particular score can do.
Comparability It is produced in full compliance with the global metadata. Our country only participated in the second round of the Program held between 2012 and 2016. A report on this research was prepared in 2016 and the results were shared. There is no study/data for other years on behalf of our country.

Other information 6 levels were determined for verbal and numerical qualifications In the Adult Competencies Assessment Survey conducted within the scope of PIAAC (5 levels from Level 1 to Level 5 and below Level 1 in addition). The indicator presents the ratio of persons other than below Level 1 within the total.

Field survey time and duration Turkey participated in the the tour II of PIAAC studies covering the period 2012-2016. Adult Competencies Assessment Survey was applied from 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2014 in Turkey.
