| Description of indicator | This indicator is defined as the total number of persons held in detention who have not been sentenced yet, as a percentage of the total number of persons held in detention, on a specified date. While calculating according to sex; for example, the proportion of unconvicted male prisoners in prison is obtained by proportioning the number of male prisoners who have not yet been convicted to the total number of male persons (prisoner and convicted) in prison. Indicator is obtained by dividing the total unconvicted prisoners in prison by the total population in prison as of 31 December and multiplying by 100. |
