This table provides metadata for the actual indicator available from Turkey statistics closest to the corresponding global SDG indicator. Please note that even when the global SDG indicator is fully available from Turkey statistics, this table should be consulted for information on national methodology and other Turkey-specific metadata information.
Target name | Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning |
---|---|
Indicator name | Annual greenhouse gas emissions |
Global / Proxy indicator | Global indicator |
Description of indicator | Total greenhouse gas emissions are calculated as the sum of emissions of direct greenhouse gas emissions: carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) and nitrogen trifluoride (NF3), measured in units of CO2-equivalent, by using a common weighting factor, the so-called Global Warming Potentials (GWP). |
Unit | Million tonnes CO2 equivalent |
Available disaggregation | Economic activity, sectors |
Calculation | - |
Comparability | Comparable over time. Produced in full compliance with global metadata |
Revision |
In the context of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), all the series are revised related to changes in the methodologies and parameters used in calculations of National Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory from the beginning of the Convention base year. GHG emissions by economic activity have been revised to align with physical energy flow calculations. |
Other information | The National Greenhouse Gas Emissions are calculated by using 2006 IPCC Guidelines. Since F-gas data isn't included in the greenhouse gas emissions data by economic activity, sectoral figures may not add up to total GHG emissions data. |
