Calculation Amount of food waste in households (tonnes):
The Municipal Waste Statistics Survey provides data on the distribution of waste collected by all municipalities on the basis of waste codes, the percentage distribution of collected waste by source and waste characterization data. Statistical estimates are produced for the areas where waste is not collected and the total amount of municipal waste generated for Turkey is calculated. The proportion of food waste in mixed waste is calculated from waste characterization data and added to the amount of food waste collected separately. This amount is multiplied by the percentage of households to calculate the amount of food waste generated in households.

Amount of waste per person (kg/person-day):
The total amount of waste is proportional to the end year population to which waste service is provided. The result obtained is divided by 365 days and multiplied by a thousand.
Comparability Since it is a proxy indicator, it differs from global metadata in some way.
