Headline data

This table provides metadata for the actual indicator available from Turkey statistics closest to the corresponding global SDG indicator. Please note that even when the global SDG indicator is fully available from Turkey statistics, this table should be consulted for information on national methodology and other Turkey-specific metadata information.

Target name By 2030, reduce the adverse per capita environmental impact of cities, including by paying special attention to air quality and municipal and other waste management
Indicator name Annual mean levels of fine particulate matter (PM 2.5 and PM10) in provinces
Global / Proxy indicator Global indicator
Description of indicator PM 2.5 and PM10 is a common measure of air pollution, which expresses the mean annual concentration of fine suspended particles of less than 2.5 and 10 microns in diameters PM estimations are calculated as the simple mean of annual values per province from air quality monitoring stations of 81 provinces. Monitoring stations are located on potentially most polluted areas of the province respectively. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the representation of these value as a "provincial value" since it is obtained by taking the simple arithmetic average of the measurement values of the monitoring stations at the provincial level.
