Description of indicator This indicator refers to official development assistance by type of flow (official flows - private flows) and bilateral official development assistance by sector according to the type of flow, as a donor country. Development assistance by type of flow includes official development assistance, other official flows, grants by NGOs and private sector flows. Bilateral official development assistance by sector comprises social infrastructure services, economic infrastructure and services, production sectors, multi sector/cross-cutting, humanitarian assistance.

Official development assistance (ODA) is defined as public grants made by donor countries' central and local governments or the executive bodies of these governments to developing countries or international organizations operating in the respective countries in accordance with their main purposes of raising the level of economic development and prosperity or at least 25% of the grants long term and low interest loans.

Bilateral official development assistance by sector is defined as the value at market prices of bilateral commitments and commitments to regional banks to the countries covered by the Development Assistance Committee (DAC), on the basis of aid category.

Comparability Data can be compared annually. However, comparable data are generally available after 2016.
Revision Although TIKA's system data and OECD Stats (CRS) data overlap to a large extent, there may be revisions with some retrospective studies. Although it is not very frequent, revision may take place towards the end of the year (t+1) after the relevant data. Due to the small amount of changes, revision transactions are not generally announced.
Other information In the Bilateral official development assistance by sector, since not all of the sub-sectors are presented in the portal, total and sub-sector totals differ.
